Pataudi Trophy 2021: Shardul Thakur, Stuart Broad could miss Lord's Test due to injuries

Synopsis

India and England would square off in the second Test of the Pataudi Trophy at Lord’s from Wednesday. Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur and Stuart Broad have suffered injury scares and could miss the Lord’s Test.

In what comes as a setback from both India and England ahead of the second Test for the Pataudi Trophy 2021 at Lord’s in London from Thursday, there are twin injury scares. While pacer Shardul Thakur is the one from India, English pacer, Stuart Broad is also doubtful.

As per England and Wales Cricket Board, Broad tweaked his right calf at a warm-up session on Tuesday and is unlikely to feature at Lord’s. The Guardian reports that he slipped while taking a warm-up jog.

“He was unable to train this afternoon with the rest of the England squad. Broad will have a scan tomorrow (Wednesday) to determine the extent of his injury,” said ECB in a statement. In case Broad misses, Mark Wood could be his likely replacement.

Meanwhile, Guardian also added that Indian pacer Shardul Thakur is having problems with his hamstring. While he played the opening Test, missing out on the second could mean veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin coming in.
