No sponsors for Virat Kohli-led India team’s kit; what will BCCI do now?

The world's richest cricket body BCCI has failed to get bids for sponsorship of the Virat Kohli-led India team kits
Mumbai: In what comes as a surprise, there are no bidders for the Indian cricket team’s kit and apparel sponsorship despite a lower price than the current value.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has failed to attract any bids. And now the Virat Kohli-led team is in danger of travelling to Australia without a kit sponsor.

On August 3, the BCCI had invited bids for the team kit sponsor and official merchandising partner rights through a tender process. The last date to buy the Invitation to Tender (ITT) was August 26.
As per Mumbai Mirror’s report, “at least four qualified bidders were in fray – Adidas, Puma and FanCode besides Nike. But none of them offered a financial bid despite the fact that the base price was lower than the existing price”.
Sportswear giant Nike was paying the BCCI Rs 85 lakh per match but they decided not to renew their contract, which ended in August. The current bid was Rs 65 lakh per match.
Currently, the BCCI is busy with preparations for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) which will be played in the UAE from September 19 to November 10.
