IPL 2021: When MS Dhoni told Ravindra Jadeja, "Hindi mein nahi bol sakta hoon" (Watch video)

Synopsis

MS Dhoni is the reigning skipper of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, having won three titles. CSK finished at the seventh spot last season, failing to qualify for the playoffs for the first time, as it looks to get back to its glory days this season.

Former champion Chennai Super Kings is determined to turn things around in the Indian Premier League 2021, having finished in the seventh spot last season and failing to make it to the playoffs for the first time. In IPL 2021, it is going great guns so far, winning four of the five matches and going atop the points table.

CSK's last game was on Sunday when it took on Royal Challengers Bangalore. Dhoni and co managed to win the game by 69 runs, thus ending RCB's four-game winning streak and handing it its first loss of the season.

The game saw all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja nail it for CSK, both with the bat and the ball. Meanwhile, something interesting happened between Dhoni and Jadeja.

During the RCB chase, as Jadeja was preparing to bowl at all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, Dhoni advised him by saying, "Dande ke bahar mat dena (Don't bowl outside the stumps)." As Jadeja did the same, he got rid of Maxwell and AB de Villiers in successive deliveries.

Following the dismissal of the two, in came Harshal Patel. During this time, Dhoni told Jadeja, "Hindi mein nahi bol sakta hun (Can't talk in Hindi)", implying that since Harshal was an Indian, speaking in Hindi would make him understand the plan against him.

Although Jadeja could not get rid of Harshal, he was eventually dismissed by spinner Imran Tahir for an unfortunate duck after facing eight deliveries. Furthermore, Jadeja claimed 3/13, besides having scored a 28-ball 62 earlier, as he was undoubtedly the star of the game.

Match summary
Winning the toss, CSK skipper MS Dhoni elected to bat. Although it was a steady start by Faf du Plessis, Jadeja's cameo in the final over allowed CSK to set a mammoth target of 191/4. In reply, RCB was off to a flying start during the powerplay, but Jadeja struck back with the ball as well, derailing RCB's chase, while lack of partnerships forced it to succumb to a 69-run loss.
Brief scores: CSK 191/4 (Du Plessis- 50, Jadeja- 62; Harshal- 3/51) defeats RCB 122/9 (Padikkal- 34; Jadeja- 3/13) by 69 runs.
