MS Dhoni's parents hospitalised after testing COVID positive

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s parents have been diagnosed COVID positive. Father Pan Singh and mother Devika Devi have been admitted to a private hospital in Ranchi, where they are currently undergoing treatment. News agency ANI reports that that the oxygen level of the duo is currently stable.

Meanwhile, Dhoni is presently on Indian Premier League 2021 duty in Mumbai, where he is scheduled to lead the side against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday evening. However, CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan has reckoned that Dhoni would not be flying out as of now and would continue leading the side. “He will remain with the team and is not flying out as of now,” he told The Indian Express.

At present, the IPL players are strictly confined to their respective team bubbles and are not allowed to leave. However, in case of a personal emergency, they can be allowed to go but will have to undergo a mandatory seven-day quarantine before joining the team again.

India has seen a steep rise in the COVID cases of late, with around 3,00,000 new cases being registered as of Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, the Jharkhand government has imposed a strict lockdown from April 22-29.
