On Thursday, Kolkata Knight Riders hammered Rajasthan Royals by 86 runs in its IPL 2021 tie in Sharjah. With this win, KKR has virtually assured itself of the playoffs berth, ending Mumbai Indians' race, while social media mourned.

There was no stopping former champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), as it battered fellow former champion Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 86 runs in Match 54 of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday. As a result, KKR is now practically ensured of a playoffs berth.

On the other hand, it means defending champion Mumbai Indians (MI) is out of the race, as it needs to win by 171 runs against former champion SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday to make it to the playoffs miraculously.
