The Indian Premier League is all gearing up for its 14th edition this year, slated from April 8. Meanwhile, the same preparations have begun in full swing, including the broadcaster doing their part to promote the event.
As a part of the same, official broadcaster Star Sports has come up with something unique. Notably, it involves veteran former Indian skipper and current Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni.
Star shared a picture of Dhoni, sitting like a monk, with a clean-shaven head. While it is unclear as to what he is up to, Star captioned it, "😮😮😮 - our faces since we saw #MSDhoni's new avatar that could just break the Internet! 🙊What do you think is it about?"

A video of the same was shared by the broadcaster where Dhoni says, "The reason behind this avatar would be known soon." Meanwhile, Star captioned it, "Mantra… avatar… we are as 🤯 as you are right now! Give us your best guess as to what this mantra is that he's talking about and keep watching this space for the reveal. 😎"
In the meantime, this new avatar of Dhoni has got the internet talking. Fans are putting in their guesses behind this new avatar. Although it is inevitably a marketing campaign by Star and nothing serious by Dhoni, many are terming it a means of mental peace following CSK's howler last season. In contrast, many see it as Dhoni's post-retirement career.
Here are some of the reactions:
As far as CSK is concerned, it would be the 12th time that Dhoni would lead the side. The side fared poorly last season in the United Arab Emirates, finishing seventh and failing to qualify for the playoffs for the first time. Furthermore, with no home advantage this season as well, things would become highly challenging for the side again.
