Axar Patel is an Indian all-rounder who has been playing for Delhi Capitals since 2019. He has also represented Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings before. He serves Gujarat in the domestic circuit and is coming off a dominating performance in the Test series against England.
In what comes as an added boost for relentless Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League 2021, the side is now bolstered by the arrival of prolific all-rounder Axar Patel. He had missed the opening week of the tournament after testing positive for COVID-19.
Patel had arrived in Mumbai on March 28, where DC played its opening three games. Although he was COVID negative when he came, he tested positive soon after and was moved to a separate medical facility, where he was in isolation for almost three weeks.
Meanwhile, during this period, DC roped in a temporary replacement in the form of uncapped spinner Shams Mulani from Mumbai. As for DC, it has been dominant so far, winning three of the four matches, while it is currently placed third in the points table.

Patel's return is sure to boost the side's already formidable all-round department. Having scored more than 900 runs and claiming 80 wickets in 97 games, Patel would play a pivotal role in DC's success in the coming days.
A video on his return was shared by DC, where hs said, "Aadmi dekh ke hi toh mujhe maza aa rahan hai (I'm getting excited by seeing people around me)." He has reportedly wholly recovered from COVID and has begun training with the side.

At the same time, he is likely in contention to feature in the playing XI for DC's upcoming tie against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai on Sunday. However, an ESPNCricinfo report adds that he could be given additional time to train and get into the IPL groove, having not played competitive cricket since March 12.
