Varun Chakravarthy has been found inflicted with a little shoulder niggle, just when the preparations for the upcoming Australia tour were on its full swing. The former played the whole IPL tournament. However, with the injury, his position in the T20I series against Australia looks uncertain.

Just when Indian squad was aggregating in the bio-bubble in the UAE, ahead of the Australia tour, news regarding Varun Chakravarthy as ‘unfit’ has surfaced following his selection in the Indian team.

The 29-year-old, who played the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), is suffering from labrum tear in his shoulder. The injury would not actually hinder his bowling but would be an obstacle while throwing the ball during fielding.

The former played the IPL season suffering from the same injury, where he was mainly seen inside the 30-yard circle to stop the injury from worsening.

Chakravarthy's position in the squad looks sceptical, who was earlier picked for the three-match T20I series. “The selectors weren’t informed about the injury. Now, it’s up to the selectors to pick Varun for the Australian tour or not. It will be selectors call,” a BCCI official told The Indian Express.

Chakravarthy’s concern has been added list of players- Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha and Ishant Sharma, all of whom are suffering from one sort of injury or the other.

The team for Australia will leave on November 12 from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The first match between India and Australia is an ODI match on November 27.
