India’s tour of Australia 2020-21: Rohit Sharma to undergo fitness test before flying to Australia

Synopsis

Clarity on whether Rohit Sharma will play in the series against Australia has come. He will fly to Australia provided he clears his fitness test before. India are scheduled to travel to Australia from Dubai on Wednesday, following the conclusion of the IPL on Tuesday.

After all speculations and assumptions of whether Rohit Sharma will travel to Australia or not, a final clarity has come by BCCI source. Very clearly it has been stated by the officials that Sharma won’t travel to Australia unless he clears the fitness test.

“Rohit won’t travel to Australia unless he clears a fitness Test conducted by Team India physio Nitin Patel. Unless Patel and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) declare him fit, Rohit is not going to Australia,” a BCCI source said.

The source added, “However, we’re keen to see that Rohit is fit in time for the Test series, considering that Virat has written to the Board that he may miss as many as three Tests due to personal reasons in January.”

Sharma, who is currently playing the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), will feature in the IPL final match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday.
