India and Sri Lanka are coming off a competitive limited-overs contest. Meanwhile, during the tour, all-rounder Krunal Pandya tested COVID positive, while now, before departure, Yuzvendra Chahal and K Gowtham, too, have tested positive and would enter isolation.

India is reeling from the series loss in the just-concluded Twenty20 International series against Sri Lanka on Thursday. Meanwhile, as the Indians were scheduled to leave Lanka for their home country, they have been dealt with a setback.

Yuzvendra Chahal and K Gowtham have tested positive for COVID, as they would be entering isolation in Colombo, reports ESPNCricinfo. Earlier, all-rounder Krunal Pandya, too, had tested positive and is already serving the mandatory ten-day isolation.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Indian squad would be flying out. Chahal and Gowtham were already isolating after being in close contact with Krunal, while Hardik Pandya, Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, Deepak Chahar and Ishan Kishan are also in question.

In the meantime, it would be interesting to see the status of Shaw and Yadav's departure to England. They are the replacements in the Indian squad for the upcoming five-Test series for the Pataudi Trophy, starting August 4.

Although Krunal was moved to a separate facility, the close contacts stayed in the team hotel but were moved away. As per the Lanka government guidelines, while the infected has to serve ten-day isolation, the close contact would serve one-week isolation.
