India vs South Africa, 1st ODI: Rain wins in Dharamsala as match abandoned

Dharamsala: The first ODI between India and South Africa was abandoned without a ball being bowled as rain played spoilsport at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Thursday (March 12).

Due to overnight showers, toss was delayed. And later ground inspections were scheduled but due to rains they were postponed. For a 20-over game, 6.30 pm IST was the cut-off time. However, that too was not possible as rain did not abate.

Finally, the umpires decided to call off the game at 5.20 pm IST. The second of the three-match series will be played in Lucknow on March 15 (Sunday).

Meanwhile, there is a possibility that the last two ODIs between India and South Africa being played behind closed doors due to coronavirus threat.
