Synopsis

IND vs AUS 2022-23: India has provided a fierce fightback with the bat in the final Ahmedabad Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. While Shubman Gill has struck a century, social media was all praise for him.

Young Indian opener Shubman Gill knocked a sublime ton, as India was 188/2 in their first innings at tea on Day 3 of the fourth and final Test versus Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday. The hosts are still trailing the Steven Smith-led visitors by 292 runs., but appear to be progressing steadily, with the pitch still belter.

Gill (103 batting) and Cheteshwar Pujara (42) tailored a 113-run stand for the second wicket before the latter was trapped leg-before by off-spinner Todd Murphy. Australia had scored 480 in its opening innings. Earlier, skipper-cum-opener Rohit Sharma fell for 35 off the final delivery of the 21st over, pinnacling a 74-run stand along with Gill.
