Synopsis

The ICC World Test Championship 2019-21 final would be played in Southampton from June 18 between India and New Zealand. While the winner would be crowned the king of Test cricket, here’s what it would pocket and what it would earn.

The cricket world is awaiting the crucial 2019-21 ICC World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand, set to be played at the Rose Bowl in Southampton from June 18. It would be the maiden final of the maiden global Test tournament, while the winner would be crowned the ultimate leader of Test cricket.

Being an International Cricket Council tournament would involve big prize money, apart from a coveted trophy. However, how much would the winner actually earn?

On the same note, the ICC has announced that the winner would pocket $1.6 million, while the runner-up would earn $800,000. Meanwhile, the team finishing third would be awarded $450,000, followed by $350,000 for fourth, $200,000 for fifth, while the remaining four would earn $100,000 each.

As for the trophy, the winner would be awarded the prestigious ICC Test Championship mace. “The Test Mace, previously given to teams topping the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings, will now be given to the WTC winners. In case the final ends in a draw or a tie, the finalists will split the prize money for the first and second places and share possession of the Mace during the time they remain champions,” said ICC in a statement.
