Team India is leaving no stones unturned to ensure that it prepares the best possible Twenty20 International side. It is all being done for the upcoming ICC World T20, slated to be held in India later this year.
India is already on an eight-series unbeaten streak, implying that its team is more or less settled. However, the side continues to experiment with young talent, with some promising ones being unearthed in each series.
In the just-concluded series against England, which India won 3-2, the latter saw a couple of young batting talents, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, nail it. As a result, critics and experts believe that the duo deserves to be a part of the squad for the upcoming T20 mega event.
Former Indian batsman and legend VVS Laxman backed the duo by saying, "Well, it's a callous question because what we have seen in this series is that lot of youngsters have capitalized on their opportunities. But the way Ishan Kishan played in his debut innings and then also the way Suryakumar Yadav played, I think both of them will definitely be in my squad of 15. It's a tough choice, but I think both of them deserve to play in the Indian squad come the World Cup."

"There is a lot of time remaining from now to the start of the World Cup. In between, there is an IPL tournament as well. So, taking into account how the decisions have been made, I believe that there are still many spots that are up for grabs. Players who were being sidelined have still had a big season lined up between the World Cup selection. So, I would not like to count anybody out of the World Cup contention as yet," he added while talking on Star Sports.
As for the performance against England, SKY finished as the fifth-highest run-scorer, scoring 89 of two innings at the second-best average of 44.50, including a half-century. His upcoming stint in the Indian Premier League would be of utmost importance, where he has already scored 2,024 in 86 innings at an average of 30.2, including 11 fifties.
Meanwhile, Kishan managed to score 60 in the two innings against England, at an average of 30.00. He, too, plays for MI in the IPL and would look to deliver to his best. Overall in the IPL, he has scored 1,211 in 46 innings at an average of 28.8, including seven half-centuries. He had a glorious outing in 2020 as well.
