Coronavirus outbreak: Here is Virat Kohli’s message after BCCI postpones IPL 2020

India captain Virat Kohli has spoken as the world battles coronavirus fears. Kohli made his comments for the first time after the BCCI postponed IPL 2020 and also called off India-South Africa ODI series


Bengaluru: After the postponement of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) and India-South Africa ODI series being rescheduled due to coronavirus fears, India captain Virat Kohli posted a message for all on Saturday (March 14).

On Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to defer the 13th edition of the IPL till April 15 due to spread of coronavirus. Later in the day, they also rescheduled the ongoing India-South Africa ODI series. The opening game was washed out in Dharamsala and the remaining two contests were to be played in Lucknow (March 15) and Kolkata (March 18).

The BCCI announced that the ODI rubber will be played later. Many sports events have been cancelled or postponed across the world due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

In a media advisory, BCCI said, “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) along with Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Friday announced to reschedule the ongoing ODI series in view of the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) outbreak.

“Cricket South Africa will visit India at a later date to play 3 One-day Internationals. The BCCI-CSA will jointly work out the revised schedule.”

Skipper Kohli took to the micro-blogging website Twitter to ask all citizens to take care amidst coronavirus cases crossing 80 in India.
