The central government has released the latest clinical guidelines for the management of adult Covid-19 patients.

The guide categorises the infection into three phases -- mild, moderate and severe.

Home isolation has been advised for those with upper respiratory tract symptoms without shortness of breath or hypoxia.

In the moderate phase, hospitalisation in a war is suggested for patients who either have a respiratory rate of over 24 per minute (breathlessness) or have an oxygen saturation of 90-93 per cent in room conditions. The guide also suggests the mode of treatment for such patients.

As for patients in severe condition, they should be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit if they either have a respiratory rate of over 30 per minute (breathlessness) or have an oxygen saturation of less than 90 per cent in room conditions.
