After 81 days, India reports less than 60,000 new cases; recovery rate at 96.27%

For the 38th consecutive day, India's daily recoveries outnumbered the daily new Coronavirus cases. 


After 81 days, India on Sunday reported less than 60,000 new Coronavirus cases. In the last 24 hours, 58,419 new cases were reported across the country.

As per the information released by the Union Health Ministry, India's active caseload has come down to 7,29,243.

For the 38th consecutive day, India's daily recoveries outnumbered the daily new cases. The tally of recovered patients touched 2,87,66,009 after 87,619 patients were reported cured yesterday.

As a result, the recovery rate has gone up to 96.27 per cent.

While the daily positivity rate is now at 3.22 per cent, the weekly positivity rate is 3.43 per cent.

The health ministry has substantially ramped up the testing capability, conducting a cumulative 39.1 crore tests so far.

On the vaccination front, the government informed that 27.66 crore vaccine doses had been administered during the nationwide vaccination programme.
