Teachers and students to get vaccinated before reopening schools in West Bengal

Many people have been infected with COVID-19 after schools in India and abroad reopened. The rate of COVID infection in Bengal has decreased a lot. However, VK Paul, a member of the policy commission, said on Tuesday (January 5) that all teachers will be vaccinated before the school reopens.


Many people have been infected with COVID-19 after schools in India and abroad reopened. In Karnataka, after schools reopened, many children and teachers were infected with the virus. The infection has spread rapidly. 

Therefore, the Centre wants to take a careful decision after this incident. The policy commission is seeking to reopen the school after vaccinating the teachers.

The rate of COVID infection in Bengal has decreased a lot. The recovery rate has also increased. However, Education minister Partha Chatterjee said, “There is a discussion of sanitizing and disinfecting the schools in the state so that the school authorities can be ready to reopen the schools. The state government will decide as to when the schools will reopen. We want teachers and the students to be safe after school reopens.”

However, VK Paul, a member of the policy commission, said on Tuesday (January 5) that all teachers will be vaccinated before the school reopens. The family members of the teachers will also need to take the vaccines in order to be safe. Children between the age group of 12-18 will also take the vaccine before going to school.

The Centre said that the vaccination will be given to 300 million people in the country. Among them, the vaccines will be first given to doctors, nurses, police and first line COVID fighters.
