Tamil Nadu: 7 more coronavirus cases reported, total rises to 74

Synopsis

Seven more people tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday in Tamil Nadu taking the total number of cases in the state to 74.

Chennai: Seven more persons, including five with a history of travel to Delhi, tested positive for coronavirus in Tamil Nadu on March 31. With this, the total number of cases reached 74.

Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had on Monday attributed the sudden rise in the number of cases in Tamil Nadu to a group of people who returned from New Delhi.

According to the State Health Department's tweet, of the seven who tested positive on Tuesday, five have travel history to New Delhi, one to Kerala and one is a co-worker of a COVID-19 patient already undergoing treatment.

Of the seven cases, three have been reported from Villupuram, and this marks the first set of cases to be reported from the district. Two cases have been reported from Madurai district, one from Chennai and one from Tiruvannamalai.

Among them, six people were discharged and one died.
