Elon Musk announced that he has found a new chief executive to lead Twitter, the social media giant he acquired in a $44 billion deal last year.  Musk did not mention the person by name in his statement, but Linda Yaccarino, an NBCUniversal executive, is expected to succeed Jack Dorsey as the future CEO of Twitter, according to media reports.

Linda Yaccarino is an NBCUniversal veteran, having been with the organisation since 2011. In November 2011, she began working at NBCUniversal as President of Cable Entertainment & Digital Advertising Sales. A year later, she was given the title of Chairman, Advertising & Client Partnerships.

Yaccarino has been credited for changing the organization's advertising and partnership by bringing together the various network teams and serving as the "bridge" across NBC properties in her capacity as chairman of advertising and client relationships.

Yaccarino is in charge of handling more than $10 billion in yearly sales in this position. Yaccarino spent 19 years as the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Turner Entertainment's advertising sales, marketing, and acquisitions before joining NBCUniversal.

She attended Penn State University to study communications, and she presently serves on the board of the School of Communications.

Yaccarino has received a number of awards. She received recognition as one of the "Ten Most Powerful Women in TV" by Adweek in 2011 and as a "CEO of Tomorrow" by Business Week in 2013. She was also named to The Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Power 100 in 2013.

Musk paid $44 billion for Twitter last October and said he would only be in control for a short period of time to carry out the organisational restructuring he believed was necessary for the business to thrive.
