The website has been plagued by multiple glitches since its launch.

According to the Finance Ministry, the minister set a September 15 deadline for Infosys to resolve the issues with regard to functionalities of the e-filing portal.

During the meeting with the Finance Minister, Infosys MD Salil Parekh reasoned that he and the team were doing their best to ensure the smooth functioning of the portal.

When Nirmala urged Infosys to deploy more resources and efforts into rectifying the glitches, Salil Parekh said that a team of 750 people had been working on the project, which was being personally supervised by Infosys COO Pravin Rao

The Finance Ministry had recently updated Parliament about 90-odd unique glitches in the revamped income tax e-filing portal. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, had in a written submission in Parliament, informed that Infosys had been appraised about the glitches on the platform.

Back then, the Infosys team reverted to the Finance Ministry, stating that technical issues noticed in the website's functioning were being constantly rectified.

The new income tax e-filing website was rolled out in June 2021. The revamped portal --www.incometax.gov.in -- was aimed at facilitating a smoother experience for the taxpayers and making the tax return filing process seamless. It was also expected to facilitate immediate processing of tax returns and promptly issue refunds.
