Andhra: Auto driver slits girl's throat for turning down proposal

Synopsis

The girl was pursuing a BTech degree and was also working in the TVS showroom. She was continuously being harassed by the auto driver. When she turned down his proposal, he developed a grudge against her and committed the crime.

In a horrifying incident in Ram Nagar locality of Vetapalem town in Prakasam district, an auto driver slit the throat of a girl who had turned down his proposal several times. 22-year-old Sravanam Teja was a native of Chirala town. She was pursuing her BTech and was working at the TVS Motor Showroom. 

According to her relatives, the auto driver by the name of Gopichand was harassing her for several days. But when the girl continuously turned down his proposals, he developed a grudge against her and murdered her at his uncle's residence. Police said that he went absconding after slashing her throat. However, he informed his friends about the murder, who in turn, tipped off the police. 

Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it for postmortem to a government hospital. A case has been registered and a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprit.
