Bengaluru: In a major step towards protecting the environment in and around Nandi Hills, the authorities have contemplated a ban on petrol and diesel vehicles. On a pilot basis, two electric cars are deployed on the lines of Lalbagh Botanical Garden. The authorities say they will put cycles and eco-friendly vehicles in and around hill-top for visitors. This apart, the parking at the entrance will be upgraded and a vehicle parking capacity from existing 1,000 to 4,000 in coming days.

As many trees are over 60 to 70 years old, tree surgery is being taken up and in every monsoon, about 2,000 new high altitude species are being planted in 100-acre area to ensure the hill-station remains lush green.
