Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials raided several vendors who were selling Ganesha idols made of Plaster of Paris (PoP) on Wednesday (August 21). They then had to face the wrath of the vendors who claimed that they were hurting religious sentiments.
Bengaluru south zone health officials conducted raids at Lalbagh west gate on Wednesday. Last year, the civic body caught a company making and selling PoP idols. Despite a notice in 2018, the company continued its production this year as well.
The BBMP seized 16 idols and even had to use cranes to lift giant idols.
