Bengaluru Metro pillars and medians become new garbage dumping points

Bengaluru: Give people an inch and they’ll take a yard. Give Bengalureans a little space and they’ll turn it into a dump yard. After Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) failure in tackling its garbage menace, it looks the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is following their tracks by failing to keep its premises clean. The BBMP has been accused of making money out of waste management contracts and for not being able to deal with 3000 tonnes of waste. The BMRCL in its MoU had mentioned that they will be responsible for developing and maintaining its medians as parks and water storage units, but this video is evidence to the contrary. Residents blame officials for not clearing waste and maintaining medians. Officials in turn blame it on 'people’s attitude'. The space between Pillar 90 up to 104, on CMH road, is always seen as someone else’s mess.
