Wrong India map brings more trouble for Twitter India MD Manish Maheshwari; another FIR in UP

Uttar Pradesh Police has registered an First Information Report against Twitter India Managing Director Manish Maheshwari for showing the wrong map of the country on its website.

A lawyer Praveen Bhati lodged an FIR against Twitter India chief Manish Maheshwari over the inaccurate map.

Amrita Tripathi, head of News Partnerships at Twitter India, has also been named in the complaint filed in UP's Bulandshahr.

Controversy erupted last weekend when a controversial map of India on the career section of the Twitter website showed Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, as a separate country. 

Even though Twitter took off the map following the backlash, there were also demands for strict action to be taken against the microblogging platform were raised.

Twitter India MD Maheshwari is already being sought by the Uttar Pradesh Police to give a statement in connection with the case pertaining to the sharing of the allegedly misleading video of an elderly Muslim man being assaulted in the Loni area of Ghaziabad district.
