Samsung may recall 'explosive' Galaxy Note 7

Synopsis

In a major blow to Samsung, batteries of its latest sensation Galaxy Note 7 have reportedly exploded when the device was charged in various parts of the world.

The news has dealt a body blow to the high expectations from the device, which was launched just a week ahead of Apple’s grand launch.

It was hoped that the new Samsung device would give a tough fight to the next iPhone after reports emerged that Apple may not introduce significant changes in the upcoming Apple device.

South Korea’s news agency, Yonhap, reported, "Products installed with the problematic battery accounts for less that 0.1 per cent of the volume sold."

However, India has been lucky enough not to encounter any hazards as the device is still in the pre-order state.

After the reports emerged, Samsung announced that it would replace the batteries of all these mobile phones for free.
