Whereas the fixed broadband internet speeds reached 58.17 Mbps as compared to 55.65 Mbps in May 2021, helping India secure 70th ranking globally in terms of fixed broadband speeds.

The country has shown consistent improvements in overall mobile download speeds over the last two months.

For the fixed broadband internet speeds, after witnessing a small dip in May, overall fixed download speeds during June are the highest for India on the Global Index, the report showed.

However, the report also makes it clear there is a huge disparity between download and upload speeds on mobile broadband in the country. For the month of June, upload speeds on average were 5.17Mbps, which shows the gap in this segment.

As per the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, market leader Jio tops the 4G internet segment with an average download speed of 21.9 Mbps, whereas Vodafone Idea leads the upload segment with 6.2 Mbps data speed.

UAE is on the top of the charts with an average mobile internet download speed of 193.51 Mbps, followed by South Korea at 180.48 Mbps, Ookla said.

Monaco led the world on fixed broadband download speeds with 260.74 Mbps followed by Singapore.
