Facebook follows YouTube, to launch 'Offline video'

Synopsis

Facebook has been focusing more on the video element on its website and mobile application for a long time. Currently, the social media major is testing a new 'offline video' feature.

'Offline video', which is already available on the YouTube, might also prove a success on the Facebook’s app as it will work on a similar process.

The users will be able to save videos when they are on a good WiFi network, and watch them later.

The feature is expected to receive a warm welcome in a country like India, where there are plenty of connectivity glitches with mobile data. At most of the places where the network is reduced, or there is no network at all, 'offline videos' can be played if saved earlier.

Facebook will roll out the feature on July 11, said a TechCrunch report.

However, the feature will currently be rolled out only to a limited set of users.
