Legendary French manager Zinedine Zidane has decided to part ways with Real Madrid after ending trophyless this season. It was the second season of his second spell at the club, winning twin titles last season, including the La Liga.
“Real Madrid C. F. announces that Zinedine Zidane has decided to bring an end to his current spell as head coach of our club. We must now respect his decision and express our gratitude for his professionalism, dedication and passion over the years and what he means to Real Madrid,” said Madrid in a statement.
“Zidane is one of Real Madrid’s great icons and his legacy extends beyond what he has achieved as a coach and player at our club. He is aware that he has a place in the hearts of the Real Madrid fans and that he will always have a home at Real Madrid,” it added.

Zidane had his first spell at the club between 2016-19, during which he had a successful tenure. Besides winning the La Liga once, he also won the UEFA Champions League on three consecutive occasions.
As of now, Zidane’s future remains undecided. However, it is likely that he could return to his native nation of France and is a favourite to replace Mauricio Pochettino as the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain after the latter failed to steer the side to any significant title win, i.e. Ligue 1 or the UCL. Furthermore, The Argentine has been linked to a return to Tottenham Hotspur, while Zidane could also eye the French national team head coach job from Didier Deschamps.
“It’s an option that Zidane could replace Mauricio Pochettino at PSG. He’s unpredictable and he could well head back to France if Pochettino decides to return to Tottenham. Perhaps Didier Deschamps will leave the French national team and maybe, Zidane will be his replacement. He’s unpredictable, so he could stay a whole year without coaching,” said renowned Spanish football expert Alvaro Montero to Sky Sports.
