Watch: When Dhoni forgot that he was not the captain anymore!

Synopsis

MS Dhoni made Kohli to ask for a review and he was spot on yet again. This was Dhoni’s first match under Kohli in the 50-over format.

India scripted an incredible victory in the first ODI of the three-match series against England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. It was the beginning of a new era under the new limited overs captain Virat Kohli and it seemed that the stage was set to complete the script.

Kohli and Kedar Jadhav’s 200 run partnership stunned England and India are now leading 1-0 in the series.

However, people were eager to see how MS Dhoni plays under the reigns of Kohli. An incident happened during the first innings of the match when England were batting proved the proverb – “Old habits, die hard.”

Dhoni, who was known for taking right calls from behind the stumps, stepped up to the plate yet again. Hardik Pandya’s delivery went past Eoin Morgan’s bat and Dhoni was immediately ecstatic but the umpire said that the ball did not brush the edge.

Dhoni immediately asked Kohli for a review and umpire had to go to upstairs to the TV umpire. The decision had to be reversed as the ultra-edge technology showed that Morgan edged the ball.

Whenever Dhoni appeals from behind the stumps confidently, hardly does he get it wrong.
