Deepika Kumari reached the quarterfinals of Women's Individual Archery of Tokyo 2020 with a 6-5 win over Ksenia Perova of the ROC in the shoot-off.

ROC is an acronym for Russian Olympic Committee. There are 335 athletes participating under the ROC banner after the World Anti-Doping Agency banned Russia for four years and barred it from competing in international events, including the Tokyo Olympics and the FIFA World Cup in 2022, over a state-backed doping programme claim.

At the start of the 1/8 elimination round of Women's Individual Archery, Deepika took a 2-0 lead with a comfortable 28-25 win in the first set against Perova.

Perova won the second set 27-26, levelling the score at 2-2.

The battle between the two picked up the intensity with Deepika winning the third set while Perova tied 26-26 with the Indian archer in the fourth set and then won the fifth round 25-28 to take the match into a shoot-off.
