The Tokyo Olympics 2020 saw yet another heartbreak for India as welterweight boxer Vikas Krishan lost his opening bout to Japan's Sewonrets Quincy Mensah Okazawa. He was left with a bloodied eye in the clash, leading to a mediocre performance.
In what turned out to be yet another heartbreak for India, welterweight boxer Vikas Krishan lost his opening bout of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to Sewonrets Quincy Mensah Okazawa of Japan on Saturday. It was a 0-5 defeat by the third round, where he was left with a bloodied eye.
Besides the bloodied eye, he also suffered from a shoulder niggle, according to team sources, reports PTI. He happened to be the only Indian boxer for the day.

Okazawa was by far the best competitor from the opening bell, as he danced along fluently, seemingly comfortable with his rhythm. He won the silver during the Asian Championships 2019, while he also qualified for the quarters in the same year.
Okazawa would now face third seed Roniel Iglesias of Cuba in the pre-quarters. The latter happens to be a former world champion and gold-medalist at the 2012 London Olympics.
