After several sports, the Indian suffered a hard fate in the sailing event of the Tokyo Olympics as well. The men's pair of K Ganapathy and Varun Thakkar competed in the skiff 49er event but came up with an abysmal performance to lurk at the bottom of the event, at 18th.
Of the three races so far, the Indian pair finished 18th, 17th and 19th on Wednesday. Eight more races remain in the event, along with a medal round.

Each sailing laser and 49er consists of a series of races. The points are awarded based on the rankings, i.e. one for the winner, two for the second-placed and so on.
