
In yet another heartbreak for India, it was boxing men's boxing that disappointed again. Manish Kaushik lost his opening lightweight clash by a 4-1 split decision to Great Britain's Luke McCormack.
The opening round turned out to be intense, as based on the five judges decision, McCormack edged past 3-2. However, Kaushik bounced back in the second and won it 3-2, tying the scores and taking it to the deciding third round. Nevertheless, McCormack held his gameplay firm, hitting the Indian with his right hand and eventually winning the bout 4-1.

Earlier, on Monday, India's legendary boxer MC Mary Kom won her opening flyweight bout, as she beat Dominican Republic's, Miguelina Garcia. Mary won the fight 4-1. On Saturday, Vikas Krishan had lost his opening welterweight clash against Mensah Okazawa of Japan, thus crashing out.
