Tokyo Olympics: Indian shooters struggle training in extreme heat

Synopsis

The 2020 Tokyo Games begins on Friday. Meanwhile, the Indian shooting contingent would be the one to watch out for as it is filled with medal prospects. However, thanks to the extreme heat in Tokyo, the practice session has taken a toll.

With the Tokyo Olympics 2020 beginning on Friday, preparations by the Indian contingent are underway in full swing. Meanwhile, the Indian shooters and the entire shooting contingent would leave no stones unturned, as it is filled with medal-winning prospects and would aim to claim as many as possible.

"There is an issue with the rifle shooters as they shoot wearing the jackets. We are sure that the air conditioners in the final hall are fine. Do we have the air conditioners when the qualifications for 50m and 25m events are held? So, you can understand. The only thing is that the training is being held at a convertible range which is being used for practice sessions of 50m, 25, and 10m events," an official from the National Rifle Association of India told PTI.

The venue would play host to the 50m, 25m and 10m rifle shooting. With India set to have 15 shooters, the 1964 Olympics venue would witness the same between July 24 to August 2. "The #guns they are a blazing again. #indianshootingteam practising at the 50M range," NRAI had earlier tweeted, besides sharing quite a few pictures from the training sessions.
