Tokyo Olympics: Aditi Ashok maintains 3-shot lead at 2nd spot after Round 3

Synopsis

The hopes for a medal for India in gold brightened at Tokyo Olympics after female golfer Aditi Ashok maintained her second spot following Round 3 on Friday.

India still has a chance to create a medal history at the Tokyo Olympics, and that too in golf. On Friday, female golfer Aditi Ashok maintained her second spot following Round 3, keeping her well in contention for a medal at the event.

She has scored three-under 67 and was 12-under 201, as she is the only woman in the second spot. While she leads by a couple of shots from third-placed Lydia Ko (66), Hannah Green (67), Kristine Pederson (70) and Mone Inami (68), with all having scored 10-under 203, she is three shots behind leader Nelly Korda of the United States of America, who is two-under 69.

As for Aditi, she scored five birdies and a couple of bogeys on Friday. She scored three-under following her fourth, sixth and seventh hole shots, while the bogeys on ninth and 11th somewhat pushed her back.

Nevertheless, she bounced back with a couple of bridies again on the 15th and 17th. While this is her second Olympic appearance, she had finished 41st at Rio 2016.

The other Indian, Diksha Dagar, remained at a shallow spot, with one-over 72. She could manage just a birdie against a couple of bogeys following her round on Friday.
