AB de Villiers cracks Ganguly’s record, notches fastest to 9000 ODI runs

In the third ODI between New Zealand and South Africa in Wellington, the Proteas have beaten the Kiwis by 159 runs. The target being chased was South Africa’s 271/8 (50 overs), New Zealand only managed to scrounge up 112/8 (32.2 overs).

South Africa’s captain AB de Villiers played a winning knock of 85 runs and smashed quite a few records in the meanwhile. He secured his record with a brilliant four he played off New Zealand’s Lockie Ferguson.

The Proteas player was just 87 short of the record and a 37-not out and a 45-runs score in the previous two matches edged him closer. The South African right-handed batsman finally made the record his own in the third.
