LSG vs PBKS, IPL 2025 highlights: Prabhsimran, Shreyas, Wadhera power Punjab to 8-wkt win

Rishabh Pant: It (the total) wasn't enough, we were 20-25 runs short, but that's part and parcel of the game. Still assessing the conditions at our home ground. It's always going to be difficult to get a big total when you lose early wickets, but each and every player is trying hard to take the game forward. The idea was to get a slow wicket. I think the slower balls were sticking in. We got to learn from this game and move forward. There are a lot of positives, can't say much.

Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer (52*) hitting a six not only to complete his 50 but also take his team over the line, chasing down 172-run target with 22 balls to spare. Prabhsimran Singh was the star performer with a brilliant knock of 69 off 34 balls, while Nehal Wadhera made a significant contribution with an unbeaten innings of 43 off 25 balls.

Nehal Wadhera put up an impressive batting display as he smashed Shardul Thakur for 16 runs, including two sixes and a four as Punjab Kings need just 1 run off 24 balls to win.

Punjab Kings middle-order batter Nehal Wadhera went bonkers against Ravi Bishnoi as he smashed for two sixes and a four in the 14th over of the team's run-chase. The last six of the over by Wadhera impressed the PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting. PBKS need 38 off 36 balls to win.

WICKET! Prabhsimran (69) attempts a slog-sweep off Digvesh's flat-length delivery but mistimes it, sending the ball high in the air. Badoni, positioned at the midwicket boundary, takes the catch but, realizing he's about to step over the ropes, smartly tosses the ball to a teammate before crossing the boundary.PBKS 56 off 54 balls to win.

FIFTY! Prabhsimran registered his first fifty of the season. M Siddharth bowls a back-of-a-length delivery on middle, and Prabhsimran works it through midwicket to reach a brilliant fifty. PBKS need 94 off 78 balls to win.

Prabhsimran Singh accelerated Punjab Kings' 172-run chase as he smashed Ravi Bishnoi for two fours and a six to take the team past the 50-run mark in the sixth over. PBKS need 111 runs off 84 balls to win.

WICKET! Priyansh Arya (8) tried to pull a short ball outside off from Digvesh but didn’t move his feet properly. He got a top edge, and Shardul Thakur ran across from mid-on to take an easy catch in the 3rd over. PBKS need 135 off 96 balls to win.

Prabhsimran Singh gave Punjab Kings a steady start with two fours on the trot against Shardul Thakur in the 1st over of their 172-run case. PBKS need 152 off 108 balls to win.

Punjab Kings need 172 runs to win after Lucknow Super Giants posted a total of 171/7 in 20 overs despite early collapse in their batting. Nicholas Pooran (44), Ayush Badoni (41), and Abdul Samad (23) made valuable contributions to resurrect the hosts' batting. For PBKS, Arshdeep Singh led the bowling attack with three wickets.

After suffering an early collapse in the powerplay before Nicholas Pooran and David Miller stepped up to resurrect the LSG's batting, the hosts will be hoping for a big finish, with Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad at the crease. In the 18th over, Badoni and Samad smashed 20 runs together against Arshdeep Singh.

WICKET! Yuzvendra Chahal bowls a googly, full and outside off, at a slower pace. Nicholas Pooran (44) tries to hit it but slices it towards wide long-off. Maxwell moves to his right and takes the catch happily.

After early collapse, losing three wickets in powerplay, Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni steadied Lucknow Super Giants innings and took the team past 50-run mark in the 8th over of the innings.

WICKET! Glenn Maxwell bowled a short and loose delivery down the leg side. Rishabh Pant (2) had the chance to hit it anywhere but ended up hitting it straight to short fine leg. He didn’t fully commit to the pull shot and ended up giving an easy catch to Chahal.

After an early dismissal of Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markman steadied Lucknow Super Giants ship by smashing three fours off Arshdeep Singh in the third over of the innings.

WICKET! Arshdeep Singh gets first breakthrough by dismiss Mitchell Marsh (0) in the first over of the match. Arshdeep bowled a hard-length delivery that moved away from the leg stump. Mitchell Marsh tried to play it on the leg side but was surprised by the movement and the ball slowing down a bit off the pitch. As a result, he got a leading edge, and the ball went towards backward point. Marco Jansen, fielding at short third, ran to his right, called for the catch, and took it safely.

Shreyas Iyer (PBKS): We are going to bowl first. It's a new ground, new pitch, dew could be a factor as well and this being a red-soil pitch, we want to chase. The players have the freedom to express themselves. You have to play the situation, the important goal is to win. We try to keep things simple. We don't know how the pitch is going to play but we have to adjust quickly. Lockie comes into the team.

Rishabh Pant (LSG): We wanted to bowl first but there are things which are not under our control so happy to bat first. There are a lot of people who have come to support us, we are definitely going to give our best. No changes for us.

The pitch at the Ekana Cricket Stadium traditionally offers more assistance to spinners, given that surface is slow, causing the ball to grip and significantly grip once the match progresses. However, the Lucknow pitch also offers some assistance to the pacers with new ball. We can expect a thrilling match between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings as there could be tough tussle between the bat and ball, considering the nature of the match.
