The ball is in Virat Kohli's court.
After homing in on two big names for the post of India's new cricket coach, the BCCI has asked the country's Test captain to choose who he feels is best for the top job.
Kohli, thus, will have to pick from Ravi Shastri and Anil Kumbke to decide who would be India's next cricket coach.
The BCCI-appointed committee comprising VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar had earlier interviewed five candidates in Kolkata and whittled down the list to Shastri and Kumbke.
Pravin Amre, Lalchand Rajput and Tom Moody were the other three candidates interviewed by the panel.
It is reliably learnt that Kohli has a strong affinity for Shastri, who was, until this year's World T20 in March, the Team Director for India.
Shastri's tenure as Director was fruitful as India reached the semifinals of both the ICC World Cup in 2015 and the World T20 this year.
