Kohli features in the most threatening T20 Team of the Year

Synopsis

Kohli did not feature in ICC’s Test Team of the Year 2016. Jasprit Bumrah featured in both the ODI and T20 team of the Year.

This man had an incredible 2016 with the bat. He was equally outstanding with his captaincy as well. He took India right to the top of the ICC Test rankings. Yes, you guessed it right; I am talking about Virat Kohli. The Indian Test skipper has won accolades from all over the world for his incredible achievements in 2016 and now he has featured in ESPN Cricinfo’s Test, T20 and ODI teams of the year. He is the only cricketer to feature in all the three teams.

It is quite obvious that he would have been chosen in all three sides because of his jaw-dropping statistics of 2016. But one also needs to take a closer look at this particular T20 Team of the Year and then he/she will realise how destructive this side is.

With Australia’s David Warner and Chris Gayle at the opening slot, followed by Kohli, AB de Villiers, Jos Buttler, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo and Shahid Afridi, this is an outrageously dangerous batting order and can send chill down the spines of any bowler in this world.

This is not all as the bowling lineup is no less threatening than the batting order. Young sensations Jasprit Bumrah,  Mustafizur Rahman and Adam Zampa lead the bowling attack. Afridi, Bravo and Russell have been amongst wickets as well throughout the year. Therefore, they also add to the young trio’s capability.

Here’s ESPN Cricinfo’s T20 Team of the Year:

David Warner (Aus), Chris Gayle (WI), Virat Kohli (Ind), AB de Villiers (SA), Jos Buttler (Eng), Andre Russell (WI), Dwayne Bravo (WI),Shahid Afridi (Pak), Adam Zampa (Aus), Jasprit Bumrah (Ind), Mustafizur Rahman (Ban).
