'He Stood Tall When Storm Raged': Gautam Gambhir Hails Cheteshwar Pujara on Retirement

Cheteshwar Pujara retired from all forms of Indian cricket after a distinguished career. He amassed 7195 runs in 103 Tests, including 19 centuries. His contributions to India's Border-Gavaskar Trophy triumphs in Australia were lauded.

India's head coach Gautam Gambhir and former Indian cricketers congratulated Cheteshwar Pujara as he announced his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket on Sunday. Pujara finished as the eighth-highest run scorer for India in Test cricket. In 103 Tests, he amassed 7195 runs at an average of 43.60, including 19 hundreds and 35 half-centuries throughout his career, with a highest score of 206*.

Gambhir wrote on his X handle, "He stood tall when the storm raged, he fought when hope was fading. Congratulations, Pujji."

 <br>Cheteshwar Pujara made his international debut against Australia in Bengaluru on October 9, 2010. He is most remembered for India's Border-Gavaskar Trophy triumph in Australia in 2018/19 and 2020/21.
