IPL 2025, GT vs PBKS highlights: Sudharsan, Buttler's fifties in vain as GT lose to PBKS

Shreyas Iyer: Getting 97 not out in the first match and that too in the opening game of the season for us is the icing on the cake. I got a four the first ball I faced and it got me going. That flick six off Rabada as well. 44 runs he (Shashank) scored off 16-17 off balls was pretty crucial for the team. We (Shreyas and Shashank) set a benchmark that we had to go for it. With the dew coming it things could change and thankfully he performed. He is a funny character. He has a got traits in him where he comes in with the right attitude. Kept his calm and composure.

Gujarat Titans had a disappointing start to their campaign as they lost to Punjab Kings by 11 runs. Sudharsan led the GT's 243-run chase with an innings 74 off 41, while Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford chipped in with the knocks of 54 and 46. Despite their efforts, GT fell short of achieving the target. 

Gujarat Titans' chances of chasing down of 243-run target dashed as Rahul Tewatia and Sherfane Rutherford were dismissed by Arshdeep Singh in the final. GT need 19 off 2 balls to win.

WICKET! Shubman Gill stepped forward to play the ball, which is aimed at his legs by Glenn Maxwell. He tried to flick it but closed the bat face too soon The ball took a thick leading edge and went straight up in the air. Priyansh Arya, postioned at cover, wasn't too steady while attempting the catch, but he managed to hold on in the end. GT need 183 off 84 balls to win.

With a target of 244 set by Punjab Kings, skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan provided Gujarat Titans a much-needed start to their run-chase. In the 4th over, Gill smashed 18 runs, including two sixes and a six against Azmatullah Omarzai. GT need 193 runs off 90 balls to win

FOUR! Arshdeep Singh bowled a length delivery drifting down the leg side. Sai Sudharsan tried to flick it but misses. The ball brushes his thigh and rolls down to the fine-leg boundary. Gujarat Titans need 239 off 114 balls to win.

Shashank Singh went bonkers against Mohammed Siraj as he smashed for 23 runs in the final over to take Punjab Kings to 243/5 in 20 overs. Shreyas Iyer was unbeaten on 97, while Shashank played quickfire innings of 44 off 16 balls. Gujarat Titans need 244 runs to win.

Shreyas Iyer accelerated the innings in the 17th over as he smashed Prasidh Krishna for 24 runs. Iyer nears his maiden century for PBKS.

Shubman Gill: We will bowl first. It is a good cricketing wicket. There is some dew here. Just keeping it in mind. Dew is a big factor here. Big targets can be chased down. Preparation has been amazing. We have our bases covered. The bowling attack is good. Very fortunate to play at the biggest stadium in the world. We have four pacers and two spinners.

Shreyas Iyer: I would have loved to bowl. I am always someone who loves a chase. Take the challenge. There are so many familiar faces around. There is Ricky. You need unity and synergy in the team. We have got a lot of all-rounders in the team. We are spoilt for choices. Since we will be batting first, we have only one spinner and three seamers.

Shubman Gill's Gujarat Titans won the toss and decided to bowl first against Shreyas Iyer's Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Shubman Gill is leading Gujarat Titans for the second IPL seaspn on the trot despite the side finished 8th last year. While, Punjab Kings to be led by new captain Shreyas Iyer, who captained the KKR to third IPL triumph last year.
