With the appointment of former leg-spinner Anil Kumble as India coach, the BCCI has inadvertently hit the jackpot. Kumble's instatement has led to the restoration of India's 'Fab Five' - Kumble, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid - as the central figures in the country's cricket affairs.

Kumble was 'selected' by the Cricket Advisory Committee comprising Tendulkar, Laxman and Ganguly. Dravid, meanwhile, is doing an exemplary job as coach of India's 'A' and Under-19 teams.

This brings together the core team that won India respect and laurels much before the clout of IPL money made the country the epicentre of world cricket.

Kumble called time on his 18-year career in 2008 - ending as India's top wicket-taker in Tests and ODIs. Ganguly retired the same year as Kumble, and was followed by Dravid (2012), Laxman (2012) and Tendulkar (2013).

Nothing can be more pleasing to the fan than these fabulous five coming back together again for the betterment of Indian cricket.
