CSK vs RCB, IPL 2025 highlights: Patidar, bowlers shine as RCB won by 50 runs at Chepauk

Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered their 2nd consecutive win of the IPL 2025 with a 50-run win over Chennai Super Kings. This was the first win for RCB against CSK at Chepauk for the first since IPL 2008. Josh Hazlewood picked three wickets, while Yash Dayal and Liam Livingstone picked 2 wickets each.

WICKET! Josh Hazlewood bowls a short ball, and Ravindra Jadeja tries to pull it but hits it towards deep mid-wicket. He moves back and tries to get some runs but ends up hitting it straight to Phil Salt. Unfortunately, this game is heading towards a dull finish.

After the fall of four quick wickets, Rachin Ravindra and Shivam Dube hold the key in Chennai Super Kings' 197-run chase. CSK need 124 off 54 balls to win.

WICKET! Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a short-of-a-good-length delivery just outside off stump. Deepak Hooda stayed back and tried to defend with a slightly open bat-face. The ball came very close to the edge, and UltraEdge showed a spike! The review was successful, and CSK lost their third wicket.CSK need 171 runs off 90 balls to win.

RCB pacer Josh Hazlewood put CSK under pressure early on in their 197-run chase as he dismissed Rahul Tripathi (5) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (0) in the 2nd over. CSK need 188 off 108 balls to win

FOUR! Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a short-of-length delivery outside off that bounced extra. Rahul Tripathi swung hard at it and got a thick edge, sending the ball flying over the leaping first slip fielder. CSK need 188 off 114 balls to win.

Chennai Super Kings spinner Noor Ahmad has topped Purple Cap chart with seven wickets in just two games. In the going match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Ahmad picked three wickets while conceding 36 runs at an economy rate of 9 in four overs.

Rajat Patidar's innings of 51 off 34 balls and Tim David's late cameo knock of 22 off 8 balls helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted a total of 196/8 in 20 overs. Chennai Super Kings need 197 off 120 balls to win. 

WICKET! Rajat Patidar stepped back, and Pathirana followed him with a fast, full delivery. Patidar tried to hit it over mid-off, but his bat twisted on impact, and his bottom hand slipped off the handle. Curran called for the catch, moved to his left from extra cover, and took it safely.

WICKET! Khaleel Ahmed bowls a cutter into the pitch. Jitesh Sharma swings across the line but mishits it, making contact with the edge of his bat. Ravindra Jadeja, positioned at deep midwicket, initially stays back but quickly reacts, dives forward, and takes a clean catch with both hands.

RCB skipper Rajat Patidar brought up his first fifty of the season. Patidar leading RCB's batting from the front after the wickets of Virat Kohli and Liam Livingstone.

WICKET! Noor Ahmad bowled a slightly shorter delivery. Liam Livingstone tried to hit it across the line but missed completely. The ball, which was a bit scrambled, landed on leg stump and went past his bat to hit the stumps. Livingstone dismissed for 10 in the 16th over.

WICKET! Noor Ahmad bowled a flighted delivery on off and middle stump. Kohli went down on one knee and played a slog sweep toward deep mid-wicket. However, he hit it flat and straight to Rachin, who took the catch near the boundary. Kohli departed after scoring a scratcy 30 off 31 balls.

After Devdutt Padikkal's dismissal, Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar steadied RCB's innings as the duo took the team past the 100-run mark in the 11th over. Kohli smashed a six and a four against Matheesha Pathirana.

WICKET! R Ashwin bowled a flighted off-break on the off-stump. Devdutt Padikkal stepped back and attempted an inside-out drive again. He hit the ball flat and low towards extra cover, where Gaikwad bent forward and scooped it up just inches above the ground. Padikkal dismissed for 25 off 14 balls.

WICKET! Noor bowled a googly that spun away. Phil Salt moved to the leg side and tried to play an inside-out drive but missed the ball completely. His back foot lifted for a moment before he placed it back in the crease. That brief moment was enough for Dhoni to quickly remove the bails. Salt gone for 32.

SIX! Phil Salt faced a carrom ball from Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin bowled it near the leg stump, but Salt quickly adjusted, turned, and pulled it over backward square for a maximum.

Ruturaj Gaikwad:  We are going to bowl first. I think it will play slightly better than the last game. So far there hasn't been any dew, we don't know when the dew will arrive and it is not in our control. There are areas; we were sitting behind in the field and would like to be more aggressive, batting wise we can be more clinical. We have just got one change - Pathirana comes back for Ellis.

Rajat Patidar: We had decided to bowl first. It will not make much difference, the surface looks hard, we will try to put up a total and keep them under pressure. The boys did well in the last game. We have to be at our best in every game and we will try to do that today also. The bowling unit after 13 overs.. the way they came back was amazing to see, the intent shown by the batting side was good. It is one of the biggest games in the league because of the fans it makes it fun and exciting. One change - Bhuvi comes in for Rasikh.

Danny Morrison and Matthew Hayden: We are one pitch over from the other night on Sunday. So the dimensions have slightly changed - 70m and 63m square boundaries, 74m back downtown. It (pitch) does look really good. I was here last night and one of the things that I really noticed about this wicket is as the evening went on, I was here about 8 o'clock, there was quite a lot of dew, and what I was seeing in the surface was that these little patches here (around a good length) that haven't got a lot of grass on it, the ball was tending to grip a little bit. That'll be something that both captains will have to be aware of considering the frontline spinners. And off-pace deliveries (for the pacers). It's not going to be a 200+ type wicket, no way. Tonight's going to be a battle of attrition. If you get 160-170, that's a bowl of rice. If you want some curry on the side of it as well, you want 185, somewhere around that.

The Chepauk pitch has traditionally been spin-friendly surface, given enough assistance to the spinners. In the CSK's first match of their campaign against Mumbai Indians, Noor Ahmed and Ravichandran Aswhin combined picked five wickets, with the former scalping four wickets. The pitch will also provide a little bit of assistance to pacers as Khaleel Ahmed picked 3 wickets on the surface in the last match.
