CSK vs DC, IPL 2025 highlights: Rahul, Vipraj shine as DC secure 25-run win over CSK

Ruturaj Gaikwad: Since the last few games it's not going our way. We are trying to improve, trying our best but not going our way. Definitely lost too many wickets. (Powerplay) It's a major concern even in the bowling department. We are giving way 15-20 runs extra or losing too many wickets. We are trying but it's just not happening. (On the team's woes) I just think that we are slightly over concerned or tentative whoever is bowling in powerplay. And with the bat obviously you don't want to lose an extra wicket but it's just about being positive. I think it's about being on the back foot and not being on the toes. Everyone needs to come together to make things happen. We need to make things happen. (About lack of intent today) Since powerplay we were always playing the catch up game. We were too far behind and we only had one batter left. DC bowled really well and used the conditions really well. Even when Shivam (Dube) was batting we were looking for momentum but it just didn't happen.

Delhi Capitals has continued their unbeaten as they registered their third successive win of the season against Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk Stadium.

MS Dhoni's parents are in attendance for Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals at Chepauk Stadium, sparking speculations of his retirement from cricket after this match. 

WICKET! Ravindra Jadeja fell prey to Kuldeep Yadav's googly delivery which hit on his pad and the umpire signalled it out. CSK need 108 off 54 balls to win.

WICKET! Vipraj and Nigam bowled a leg-break, tossing it up well outside off to tempt the batter. Shivam Dube (18) saw the chance and stepped forward to loft it, but he didn’t time it well. The ball went high up in the air. It wasn’t an easy catch, but Stubbs is a brilliant fielder. He judged it perfectly at long-on and took a great catch. CSK need 115 off 60 balls to win.

WICKET! Mitchell Starc bowled a short ball aimed at the body. Gaikwad (5) didn’t go all out with the shot—he just helped it along, almost like a short-arm punch. But he didn’t keep it down, and Jake Fraser-McGurk took a good catch at deep backward square leg. CSK need 164 off 102 balls to win.

Delhi Capitals have set 184-run target for Chennai Super Kings after KL Rahul's fine 77-run knock took the visitors to 183/6 in 20 overs.

WICKET! Matheesha Pathirana bowls a short ball to Rahul (77), who tries to pull it but edges it with his glove. MS Dhoni takes a safe catch.

DROPPED! KL Rahul attempted to go for a shot off Mukesh Choudhary's length delivery but the ball popped. Mukesh kept his eyes firmly on the ball to take the catch, but but it slipped through his fingers at the last moment, leaving Rahul with a lifeline.

WICKET! Khaleel Ahmed bowled a slower ball wide outside off stump. Rizvi (20) tried to loft it with one hand but mistimed it and hit it high off the bottom of the bat. Jadeja ran in from deep cover and took a well-judged catch.

WICKET! Noor Ahmad bowled a googly. Axar Patel 21) read the ball well, but he swung too hard trying to play a slog sweep. He missed it, and the ball went under his bat and hit the stumps, getting him bowled.

WICKET! Khaleel Ahmed gets the first breakthrough by dismissing Jake Fraser-McGurk for a 5-ball duck in the first over. Khaleel bowls a length delivery outside off stump. Fraser-McGurk moves his front leg out of the way and tries to hit it hard across the line. But he doesn’t connect well—it goes high in the air off the lower part of his bat. Ashwin runs back from mid-on and safely catches it with a reverse cup.

Axar Patel: We are going to bat first. Feels like there'll be help for the bowlers. Expect it to get slower as the game progresses. In our team, we have a few players who have captained other franchises and that helps me a lot. Same combination. Faf is not fit for this game, Sameer Rizvi is playing.

Ruturaj Gaikwad: We were looking to bat as well. Looks a bit dry. It's a bit cloudy, won't change much. You always want momentum in T20 cricket. Overall, the chat has been positive. Fielding is something which we can improve day by day. We want to be proactive. Elbow is good. Conway comes in for Overton. Mukesh comes in for Tripathi.

Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals are locking horns for the 31st time in the Indian Premier League. In their last 30 outings, CSK have emerged victorious on 19 ocassions, while DC won 11 matches. Their last face off was in the IPL 2024 group stage, where Delhi Capitals defeated Chennai Super King by 20 runs.

Ahead of the IPL 2025 match against DC, CSK batting Michael Hussey hinted at possibility of MS Dhoni stepping in as a captain if Ruturaj Gaikwad is unavailable to play due to elbow injury.
