'Mini-Kohli' Garvit Uttam with Virat Kohli

Synopsis

Ahead of the first ODI against New Zealand, Virat Kohli met young fan Garvit Uttam, his childhood lookalike. Kohli called him ‘Chota Cheeku’, joked about his “duplicate” to Rohit Sharma, then scored a match-winning 93 off 91 balls in Vadodara.

Ahead of the first ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand in Vadodara, former Team India captain and star batter Virat Kohli encountered a young fan who bore an uncanny resemblance, striking looks, and hairstyle to young Kohli and was affectionately dubbed ‘mini-Kohli’ by fans.

Virat Kohli was spotted interacting with young fans outside Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, where the series opener between India and New Zealand took place, but what caught the attention of the fans on social media was the uncanny resemblance of the former India captain’s childhood look to the young fan, who became a viral sensation online.

The young fan, who was later identified as Garvit Uttam, was compared to the childhood photos of Virat Kohli, who appeared to have acknowledged his resemblance with a smile while signing autographs for the young fans and happily interacting with the boy. The boy was part of Kohli’s photoshoot ahead of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, organised as part of a promotional activity.

‘Woh Dekh Mera Duplicate Baitha Hai’

The young fan, Garvit Uttam, recalled his moment with Virat Kohli during the encounter, sharing how the former India captain reacted on seeing the strike resemblance.

In a video that went viral on social media, Garvit stated that he admires Kohli for his style and aura, adding that the former India captain pointed him out to Rohit Sharma, jokingly said that his ‘duplicate’ was sitting there, and affectionately called him ‘Chota Cheeku’.

“I like his style and aura the most. When I took his name, he looked at me and said he would come back,” Kohli’s doppelganger kid said.

“Later, he told Rohit Sharma that his duplicate was sitting there and called me ‘Chota Cheeku’. I also met Rahul, Arshdeep, Virat and Rohit,” he added.

Virat Kohli’s doppleganger kid was naturally born with striking features, especially the face, resembling the star’s childhood, from his expressive eyes to his familiar hair, making the similarity almost uncanny. However, former Indian captains’ ardent fans often try to imitate his style and appearance.

Kohli Lit Up Vodadara Stadium with Match-Winning Knock

Team India star batter Virat Kohli lit up Vodadara with his match-winning knock in the first ODI of the ODI series against New Zealand at the Kotambi Stadium on Sunday, January 11.

Kohli played a brilliant knock of 93 off 91 balls in the Men in Blue’s four-wicket win over New Zealand in the ODI series. His knock, alongside a crucial 118-run stand for the second wicket with Shubman Gill, and then, a 77-run partnership for the third wicket with Shreyas Iyer, guided the hosts in their 301-run chase, which was eventually chased down with six balls to spare.

The veteran Indian batter was adjudged the Player of the Match for his batting brilliance and leading the Men in Blue’s successful run chase to seal a four-wicket win and take a 1-0 series lead.

Virat Kohli has carried his impressive form from the three-match ODI series against South Africa and his couple of outings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in December last year, and continued his strong run in ODIs with another decisive performance against New Zealand. In the last five ODI matches, Virat Kohli has consecutively registered 50+ scores, including two centuries.

Kohli will return to action when Team India takes on New Zealand in the second ODI at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot on Wednesday, January 14.
