Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar feels that England captain Alastair Cook has the potential and the time to surpass Sachin Tendulkar as Test cricket's highest run-scorer of all time.
"Cook can break Tendulkar's record of Test runs. He has age on his side and England play more Tests. Given the number of Tests England play every year and if Cook can hold on to his form in the next seven years, he can surpass Tendulkar," Gavaskar was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Cook accomplished the feat at 31 years and 157 days, five months faster than Tendulkar, whose record he shattered. Cook (10,042 runs) is currently 5,879 runs away from Tendulkar's overall record of 15,921.
