Chennai Test: Watch Cyclone Vardah forces Joe Root to practice on ‘Chepauk road’

Synopsis

Quite a lot of Chepauk Stadium properties were damaged because of Cyclone Vardah. India and England are currently playing the final match of the Test series in Chennai.

India vs England 5th and final Test was scheduled to start from December 16, 2016. For a moment it looked like the Chennai Test match will be moved to some other venue. But the curators have worked with a lot of conviction to get the pitch ready on time.

In order to do so, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association expressed their regrets as they could not provide practice wickets to either of the sides before the start of the 5th Test match at Chepauk Stadium.

Cyclone Vardah made quite an impact on the city of Chennai. Even after it has left, the state of Tamil Nadu has still not managed to get up on its feet properly.

The devastating cyclone damaged quite a lot of stadium properties earlier this week and that made it practically impossible to come up with a practice wicket. Most of the players chose to do some fielding drills. But Joe Root took to the Chepauk Road to do some knocking.

Innovative isn’t it? Root, who is one of the best Test batsmen in the world, will not leave a chance of knocking before the start of the final match between India and England in Chennai from Friday.
