Synopsis

Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo recently boycotted Coca Cola during the ongoing UEFA Euro and urged everyone to drink water. However, before him, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor did the same in 2007. Check it out.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a Portuguese football great who entertains his fans through his exceptional footballing skills and inspires them socially. Recently, he did something during the ongoing UEFA Euro that gave out a strong message to the fans regarding health.

During a press conference, Ronaldo decided to remove a couple of Coca Cola bottles, which were kept on the table as a part of the sponsorship. Instead, Ronaldo urged everyone to drink water instead of a soft drink.

The move was widely acclaimed by most of the fans. Furthermore, this deed of his also caused a $4 billion loss for Coca Cola in its market value. Nonetheless, Coca Cola did not respond harshly towards the Portuguese's act and said that everyone is entitled to his/her preferred choice of beverage.

However, Ronaldo is seemingly not the first to dot it. It appears that renowned Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor had already done the same 14 years ago through one of her movies.

During her hit movie Jab We Met, alongside Shahid Kapoor, Kareena chose water over soft drinks from a stall in a railway station. She said, "Cola-shola sab apni jagah hai, par paani ka kaam paani hi karta hai (The cola does its job, while the job of the water is done by water alone)." She shared a meme of the same on her social media.

Meanwhile, following Ronaldo's move, many other footballers joined in the same during the Euro. While French footballer Paul Pogba removed the Heineken beer bottle due to religious beliefs, the Russian head coach took a dig at Ronaldo by drinking one of the Cokes.
